This week in vaccines

28th February 2016

This week the main event was the African Ministerial Conference on Immunisation, where leaders from across the continent gathered to show their commitment to the goal of vaccines of all children. And commit they did, signing a declaration composed of concrete steps towards making universal immunisation a reality.

Accompanying the meeting, several participants brainstormed about the most important steps towards vaccine progress, the potential contributions of the polio eradication experience, and the data and systems that need to facilitate it.

In the rest of the world, the conversation around Zika virus and potential vaccines continued, and parallels between Ebola and Zika continued to be drawn.
